Water Conservation
The water usage on our GWS has been reduced significantly as a result of installing bulk meter loggers at various points throughout the Scheme. Each logger is monitored daily, which enable the manager to identify specific areas where water usage has increased. The digital water meter syatem then assists in finding water leaks.
*****NOTICE*****
Members are advised not to leave pipes exposed and to turn off their water connections to land where there are no livestock for the winter period.

Tips to conserve water:
----In the Kitchen
-
Only wash full loads in the dishwasher.
-
Soak pots and pans before washing. When washing dishes by hand, fill one sink or basin with soapy water.
-
When buying a new dishwasher, consider purchasing a water-saving model. Newer models can reduce water usage by 25% and are no more expensive than non-conserving models.
----In the Bathroom
-
Turn the tap off while brushing your teeth, washing your face or shaving.
-
Replace or adjust the toilet handle if it frequently sticks in the flush position letting water run constantly.
-
Install a low-flow showerhead. It can reduce water usage significantly while still providing a refreshing, cleansing shower.
-
Do not dispose of facial tissues, paper or cigarettes in the toilet.
-
Replace older, larger toilets with newer ultra-flow flush models.
----Doing Laundry
-
Only put on your washing machine when it is full.
-
Insulate your water pipes as this will heat water faster and avoid wasting water while it heats up.
-
Buy a water-saving model washing machine. New horizontal models can save up to 40% of the water used by a conventional model.
----Outdoors
-
Don't overwater your landscape. Give plants only the amount of water they need.
-
Instead of using a running hose to wash your car, try using a bucket and sponge plus a trigger nozzle on the hose as a running hose can waste about 400 litres of water.
-
Collect rainwater for use in your garden. Rainwater is actually better for your plants as it is raw water and is at ambient temperature.
