Water Meters

How do I read my water meter?

Mid Roscommon GWS, Mid Roscommon Co-Operative Society Ltd.

Meter Serial Number

Current Meter Reading

Usage Indicator

1 m3= 1,000 litres= 220 gallons

If the lower figures are moving constantly on the usage indicator and there is no water being used, this indicates a leak on the consumer side of the meter.

If all water appliances and taps are turned off and this is still moving, you should contact the scheme and we will advise you if you have a leak of not.

If you notice the top figures on the current meter reading are higher than you expect, you should contact the GWS. It is good practice to keep your own meter readings.

It is important the frost barrier and the lid are secured in the correct position at all times.

Pictured here are examples from our GWS of boundary boxes with no frost barriers and the lids missing. This has the potential to contaminate the water supply in both the mains and service pipes. This practice is not acceptable on our GWS under no circumstances.
